La Croisette is the frame people expect and the least interesting one available. Le Suquet, the old quarter climbing behind the port, gives narrow streets, warm stone and a view back over the bay — and it is four minutes away on foot.

Sessions

  • City buildings near body of water under blue sky during daytime
  • Aerial photo of houses
  • A clock tower on top of a building next to palm trees

Locations

Best photo locations in Cannes

Where to shoot in Cannes, when the light is best, and what each place needs.

  • Le Suquet

    Best time
    Late afternoon into sunset
    Permits
Free — public streets and steps

Stepped lanes, shutters and the bay opening up behind you as you climb. Steep in places — worth mentioning if anyone is in heels.

  • Îles de Lérins

    Best time
    Morning, first boat
    Permits
Ferry ticket; the abbey grounds have their own rules

Pines, clear water and no traffic, fifteen minutes offshore. The boat schedule dictates the session length, so it is planned around the return crossing rather than the light.

When to visit Cannes for photos

April to June and September to October. The festival takes the second half of May and makes the seafront impossible and every hotel expensive. August is hot and full.

Reviews from Cannes

  • “Our Cannes photoshoot was absolutely amazing. We wanted something elegant but not overly posed, and our photographer understood exactly what we meant. The locations, lighting and direction were perfect. The final gallery captured the atmosphere of our holiday beautifully.”
