The view down onto the old town roofs and the whole curve of the bay. A climb, or a lift from the seafront end — worth knowing which if anyone in the group would rather not walk up.

Ochre fronts, deep shade and the flower market. The colour here is strong enough to carry a whole session on its own, and it is the fallback whenever the seafront is unusable.

- Promenade des Anglais →Palms, blue chairs and seven kilometres of seafront. Half an hour of it is worth photographing, and only at the two ends of the day.
When to visit Nice for photos
May, June, September and October. July and August are hot, crowded and vertically lit. Winter here is genuinely usable — fifteen degrees, low sun and an empty Promenade — and is the season most people never think to ask for.
