Everything here is decided by the weather window and the lift schedule, in that order. The valley floor works in almost any conditions; anything above two thousand metres depends on a forecast we read together forty-eight hours out, with a second date already held.

Sessions

  • Green grass field near mountain under blue sky during daytime
  • Brown wooden houses near green trees and mountain under white clouds during daytime
  • A mountain village with a mountain in the background

Locations

Best photo locations in Chamonix

Where to shoot in Chamonix, when the light is best, and what each place needs.

  • Lac Blanc

    Best time
    Sunrise, July to September
    Permits
Lift ticket plus a two-hour walk

The Mont Blanc massif reflected in still water at 2,352 metres. Requires the first lift and real walking boots; the reflection only exists before the wind gets up, which is usually before nine.

  • Mer de Glace et Montenvers

    Best time
    Morning, any season
    Permits
    Rack railway ticket

Reached by train rather than on foot, which makes it the choice when the group includes anyone who cannot walk two hours uphill.

When to visit Chamonix for photos

Late June to September for green valleys and open passes; December to March for snow. October and May are the two dead months — lifts closed, snow patchy, nothing at its best.

Photographer in Chamonix: your questions

What if the weather turns?

We hold a second date from the moment you book and decide together two days out, not on the morning. Low cloud is usually workable and often better than sun; sustained wind above about forty kilometres an hour is what actually cancels an altitude session.

How much does a photographer in Chamonix cost?

Sessions in Chamonix start at €150 (corporate headshots). For example: engagement session from €220, holiday session from €180, studio portrait from €160. The price covers the session, the editing and a private gallery, and it is confirmed in writing before you book.

How quickly will we receive our photos?

Your edited photographs arrive in a private online gallery within 48–72 hours of your session in Chamonix. 24-hour delivery is available as an option.
